HCI — Hyperconverged Infrastructure Lab
Author: Niklas Häll (mymh) — https://git.mymh.dev/mymh
A self-hosted hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform, built on Harvester (SUSE's open-source HCI software, KubeVirt + Longhorn). Runs on its own dedicated, separate hardware. Primary purpose: a hands-on lab for Rancher/SUSE-stack skills (Kubernetes cluster management, Fleet GitOps, RKE2), alongside CKA exam practice; a planned secondary purpose is hosting AI and monitoring tooling that feeds back into the mymh.dev platform.
Relationship to the mymh.dev platform
This is a separate project from the mymh.dev platform, with its own hardware, its own risk model (single node, no redundancy, recovery means rebuilding from Git), and its own decisions. Three points of contact: this project's management plane (a dedicated VM running K3s, Rancher, and Fleet) pulls its GitOps state from the same self-hosted Forgejo instance that serves as the platform's own source of truth, over a narrowly-scoped LAN network path; and, as an explicitly temporary exception (HCI-ADR-001, cross-referencing the platform's own ADR-025), this VM also hosts the platform's CI/CD pipeline orchestration. The platform's live, running services never depend on this project being up; the one narrow exception is that new deployments through that pipeline pause if this VM is down.
Core values
- Same EU sovereignty and self-hosted-first principles as the mymh.dev platform.
- Declarative and reproducible: everything deployed here must be rebuildable from Git.
- Real-world, in-demand tooling: the Rancher/SUSE stack specifically, for its relevance to how companies actually run Kubernetes platform teams.
Repository structure

Further structure (runbooks/) lands once there's real content for it, matching the mymh.dev platform's own convention: directories are created when they get content, not upfront.
